Our vineyards are situated in the
Alazani River
Valley in
the most important
Appellations of Kakheti.
The vineyards of Telavi Wine
Cellar are stretched along the Alazani Valley from the northwest to
southeast for 110km, at 200-500 m above the sea level. Its average width
is about 20 km. Valley is divided by the river and guarded by the 3000-
4000m high Great Caucasian mountains from one hand and the Tsiv-Gombori
mountain range from the other..
The seven main Kakheti
Appellations are stretched along the both banks of the Alazani River.
Mountain range and the river carve the valley into seven main
Appellations of Kakheti: Tsinandali, Vazisubani, Akhasheni and
Mukuzani Appellations are situated at the right bank of the Alanzani
river, on the Tsiv Gombori slopes, while the Napareuli, Kvareli and
Kindzmarauli Appellations spread among the picturesque Caucasian
foothills of the left bank..

The soils are different
in each of the appellations, producing mostly white wines in
Tsinandali and reds in Mukuzani and Kindzmarauli. Proximity to the
mountains cause large swings in daily temperature. Sunny days and
cool nights ensuring the perfect ripening conditions for our grapes.
With respect to the local climate and regional soil composition,
more then 200ha of our vineyards are planted with appropriate
original Georgian grape varieties: Saperavi, Mujuretuli, Usakhelauri,
Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Qisi as well as the imported vines like:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Chardonnay.. |
